Book Review - Unfixable by Tessa Bailey

My Thoughts

Willa's on her way to Dublin, Ireland after winning a photography contest. It couldn't have happened at a better time since she is getting over a breakup. Now this breakup is different in that she broke it off with him because she felt like she just didn't fit into his world. It seemed much like she was playing a part that was expected of her, not necessarily by him but maybe for him. She loved him enough to let him go and this is the heartache that she is working through at the time of her travel.

Enter Shane. At the airport.
Holding a sign with her name on it.
Shane is on a break from car racing while working at his family's pub which is hosting Willa during her stay in Dublin. What begins as hostility turns into passion between two people who aren't sure if they are capable of love because of their pasts.

Willa's has such a hard time and always had her sister to depend on when she needed her most. I loved the conversation that Willa has with her sister, Ginger, about love.

“Love comes in many forms. It’s not always sweet. Or comfortable. Sometimes it’s selfish and consuming. Volatile. It makes choices for you.
It demands you obey it, not taking no for an answer. And it’s usually right. It knows you better than you know yourself.”
- Ginger

I also loved the moment on the beach between Willa and Shane with the photograph. Such beauty and love in that one moment. Then later how that photo is the prompt for an epiphany for Willa. I am fascinated by the way Willa sees people not only through the lens of her camera but in her day to day life. Though she says she doesn't want to be friends with Faith, that is exactly what she is to her when she needs it most. When Kitty takes the biggest step in years, it is Willa beside her.
I just loved Willa and her heart so much.

I give Unfixable 4 hearts!

About the Book

He’s the last thing she wants…but the only thing she needs.

Willa Peet isn’t interested in love. She’s been there, done that, and has the shattered heart to prove it. Ready to shake the breakup, she heads to Dublin, Ireland. But there’s a problem. A dark-haired, blue-eyed problem with a bad attitude that rivals her own. And he’s not doling out friendly Irish welcomes.

Shane Claymore just wants to race. The death of his father forced him off the Formula One circuit, but he’s only staying in Dublin long enough to sell the Claymore Inn and get things in order for his mother and younger sister. He never expected the sarcastic American girl staying at the inn to make him question everything.

But even as Willa and Shane’s fiery natures draw them together, their pasts threaten to rip them apart. Can Shane give up racing to be with the woman he loves, or will Willa’s quest to resurrect the tough-talking, no-shit-taking girl she used to be destroy any hope of a future together?
