Damien and Poppy meet at a BDSM retreat and spend a seductive night together (hottest use of a ladder ever!) before he is called away for his job. Damien is a DEA agent working a huge case trying to take down drug lord Emilio who is out for revenge over the death of his wife. Poppy is a social worker who helps families who are victims of abuse. She grew up in a commune and is a Disney princesses collector. She lightens Damien a bit. Their constant struggle is Damien working so much. From that first weekend when he left her so abruptly with just a note forward into their relationship, Poppy has felt that he would never put her as a priority. Unfortunately that isn't their biggest problem. Her life is in danger due to her connect with Damien though as Emilio targets her to get even with him.
I loved how the romance and the thriller parts of this story just blended so well. Neither one overpowered the other and both were exciting. I loved Damien as he was so in tune with Poppy and super creative (again referring to ladder). I also adored Poppy and her affection for fairy tales and princesses.

About the Author
It can never be said that Sidney Bristol has had a 'normal' life. She is a
recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up
in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and
Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad
