I just finished Bright Side and I am completely undone by it. It is by far one of the best books that I have read this year.
Kate is this brave, strong, hilarious, generous, spontaneous, loving woman that is far past her actual age. A definite old soul who is so very young at heart. She leaks all over the people in her life and she just envelops them all. I fell in love with her right along with everyone else. She made me laugh so hard. She has this wittiness and sense of humor that just slayed me.
I so loved her friendship with Gus. It burst out from them through their music together. This connection they had that surpassed any label that could possibly be applied to them. They talked almost every day while they were apart and always told each other how much they were loved. It was lovely.
I also loved her with Keller. Once she opened her life up to him thanks to his persistence, it was beautiful. They challenged each other to grow especially Kate telling him to be the person he wanted so much to be. They loved each other wonderfully and big and wholly.
I loved her bravery in standing up for her friends and taking them outside of their comfort zones to live life to it's fullest and be all that they can be. She was an amazing friend.
Obviously both she and Keller had secrets as the synopsis states, but I won't reveal them to you as I so want you to experience it yourself. Be prepared to laugh your ass off and cry your eyes out. This book will make you feel. That's what it did for me.
Please read this book.
It's more than worth it.
You are brave...
I give Bright Side 5 hearts!

Secrets.
Everyone has one.
Some are bigger than others.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you ...
And some will end you.
Kate Sedgwick’s life has been anything but typical. She’s endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there’s a reason her best friend Gus calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong-willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She’s also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to
fall in love with Keller Banks.
They both feel it.
But they each have a reason to fight it.
They each have a secret.
And when secrets are revealed,
Some will heal you …
And some will end you.
I (Kim Holden) live in the greatest city in the world: Denver, Colorado. Some of my favorite things: reading, writing, the two coolest guys on the planet (my husband and son), my bicycle, Facebook, iced coffee, and music. I also love dreaming. And speaking of dreaming, I have a bit of advice for anyone reading this ... follow your dreams. It's never too late. Get started today ... heck get started RIGHT NOW! Make your dreams reality.
I love to hear from fellow readers. Love. It. Please come find me. We'll hang out. It'll be fun:
