Book Review - Promise Me This by Christina Lee

My Thoughts

Nate and Jessie are friends who banter and flirt like crazy. One night out changes that when Jessie walks into the restroom at a bar and finds Nate with another woman. She hadn't looked at him that way before then and she couldn't get him out of her mind. He also is very attracted to her, but hasn't acted on it. Nate is struggling with some issue from his childhood. What his father did to his mother has him wondering if he too is a monster.

Jessie is working on a photography class project and Nate offers to show her a place where there are many bridges for her to take pictures of. They have a wonderful day together sharing parts of themselves they hadn't before. When her truck gets a flat tire they are stuck in a hotel together overnight until they can get it fixed. They share a passionate night together and Nate lets go which scares him enough to nix the idea of it ever happening again. But he can't stay away from her. She is everything he has ever wanted and he can be himself with her.

Things come to a head with his father when Nate starts counseling to deal with what has happened. His mother assures him that it isn't happening anymore and his father tells him to leave and not come back. When he gets a call from his brother at the hospital everything changes for his family.

Oh how I love naughty Nate. He and Jessie share some very steamy moments together. But what I love is that they share their hearts as well.

I give Promise Me This 5 hearts!

About the Book

Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate’s family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate’s been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can’t help himself around one girl…

Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can’t resist getting close to her, even if it’s strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly.

With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he’s always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart.
