Mark may be a Master, but right now his life is out of control. He is dealing with guilt and remorse over Rebecca and worry over his mother. In order to regain some of that control that he craves, Mark will go after Crystal and then push her away again.
Mark is the one person in this series that has intrigued me most. We get glimpses of the Master in Rebecca's journals, in his moments with Sara, and then finally the hint of things to come with Crystal. This is just a taste of that overwhelming need of his to control and I want more.
