Children are being kidnapped, tortured, and killed. Their very souls are being sucked out of them. The Damask Circle sends in witches - Kat and her grandmother, Gwen - to hunt the kidnappers and rescue the children using their psychic and shifter powers. In the process they cross paths with a cop named Ethan whose niece is one of the missing children and has been asked to back off from the police investigation.
Although he is a shifter, Ethan doesn't believe in the paranormal. This makes for an interesting investigation not only due to the powers Kat and Gwen have, but also because they find out that zombies, vampires, and witches are involved in these horrible killings. It also complicates the relationship that is developing between them. Kat and Ethan are drawn to each other and have amazing chemistry, but Ethan resists any emotional connection due to his past. He has fought who he is for many years largely in part due to how one person reacted to his revelation. So as they search for answers to stop the monsters and ultimately to rescue the children, they are also navigating this connection they have and how it could change their lives.
Circle of Desire is the third book in the series and is my favorite of all three. I loved Kat. She's strong, smart, and confident in who she is and the life she leads. I loved Gwen too. She's is spunky and funny. The relationship they share is wonderful. More mother and daughter. Connected in all ways. You know exactly how Kat became the strong woman she is being raised by Gwen. I loved Ethan even though there were times I wanted to shake him into giving in to all that they could be together rather than pushing Kat away so much. Their chemistry is scorching hot and the moments shared will definitely have you fanning yourself. Circle of Desire is one of those books that I would love to see turned into a series of its own as I want more of all the main characters.
