My Thoughts
Perception is Xander's story. We've met him briefly before in Devotion (Club Destiny) and also in Travis (Alluring Indulgence). I couldn't wait to learn more about this larger than life man. He is large is size and more so in how he lives and loves.
One of the things I love (and there are many things I love about this hot, sexy, bossy-man) is that he isn't damaged. He is emotionally healthy, knowing who he is and what he wants. More like who he wants...Mercedes. They have been friends for many years and he wants to take it to another level. The problem is that he is a Dom and she is a Domme. So he asks her to help him with a demonstration as his submissive which leads to a five day "experiment" that changes everything.
Mercedes tugged at my heart so much. Knowing that her need to control was more about protecting herself than anything else. Every time she told someone she was a Domme I wondered who she was trying to convince, them or herself. The moment Xander came to her at the window made me cry. It was just so beautiful.
I loved two scenes in the book where we get to visit with several of the characters from the other books. The guys hanging out at the cigar bar was great, but I laughed out loud at the girls night out at the toy store. Hilarious!
Nicole is absolutely one of my favorite authors. She writes super sexy moments within a story, but more than that she writes damn fantastic love stories to surround those moments. Then add the fact that she strings them together into a series and makes all of these people connect making them into a family of sorts and I am hooked. I love it.
Master X, if it pleases you...
I give Perception 5 hearts!
