Book Review - Smoldering by Tiffany Aleman

My Thoughts

For so long Kelsey lived to please her family until the one day they asked too much of her. She stands in her wedding dress on what should be the happiest day of her life completely miserable because of the man she stands before to pledge the rest of her life. Deep inside she knows she can't give him or her parents the sacrifice of her life and happiness, so she chooses herself for the first time and walks away from everything.

She moves away with her best friend to begin living life on her own terms. She works as a waitress in a truck stop restaurant which is where she meets Riley. Oh my....Riley. He's sexy, strong, sweet, and he pursues Kelsey hard knowing that he wants her in his life.  And oh my...once they get together...scorching hot! I will never look at a helicopter the same way again. Never. In a short time their hearts become knit together and they fall in love.

Then it happens. I was like "what the hell just happened?" I can't tell you what, but it's devastating and changes everything. At this point I began talking to them both saying "Fix this now please." My heart ached for them as they walked through it and the aftermath of it. I did the whole ugly cry thing with Kelsey and had a few choice words for Riley. Then I wanted to shake the crazy right out of Kelsey. I wasn't sure either one of them would make it to the other side of it. I desperately wanted them to. I won't give away how their story ends because you have to read it for yourself.

Smoldering is one of my top reads this year.
I absolutely LOVED it.

I give Smoldering 5 hearts!

About the Book

Kelsey

Growing up in the arms of one of the wealthiest families in America, I lived a champagne lifestyle and never wanted for anything.

That life came with stipulations…
1. Marry the man I don’t love.
2. Make my parents proud.

Wrong.

I left my Manolos and fancy apartment behind and fled that life to find out who I really was.

Someone unexpected bulldozed my life.

Riley Jackson

He was the man everyone, including me, wanted, but his future was one I wasn’t sure I wanted to thrust myself back into. And when he chose a career over the family business, his family supported him instead of pushing him away.

My past collided with my future.
I didn’t see it coming. If I had, I would’ve ran far, far away.

Now I’m stuck in the same position I started in two years ago, except this time, it’s not my decision to make.

Loyalty to your family? Loyalty to your own happiness?

Which would you choose?

About the Author

Hey everyone! I'm the author of Smoldering and co-authored Serenity Falls and Luck of Love. I'm a mom of 2 great kids and I'm married to my best friend. I live in the deep south and wouldn't have it any other way. Originally, I hail from Austin, Texas.

I've been writing ever since I was kid but I decided to put my passion to use in May of 2013. Smoldering is my third novel and my solo debut. It's a book that took up residence in my mind and wouldn't leave me alone until I finally decided to write it.

When I'm not writing I can be found on the beach with my family and friends or out in the woods getting dirty in some Georgia clay on a four-wheeler.
