My Thoughts
Therapy was one of the hardest books I have ever read. It was heart-wrenching and emotional from the first page to the last. I love it and hated it and couldn't put it down even in the moment that I screamed and cried wanted to throw my Kindle across the room (you will know the exact moment when you read it).
Jess' story begins in her last year of high school. She is relentlessly bullied and these scenes are fairly graphic and so hard to read. She has no friends, gives herself to boys that don't care for her. her parents are not supportive, and she cuts to relieve the stress. This is when Jace comes into her life. They are best friends and for a brief time more than that. They are separated by circumstances and move on.
Well Jess doesn't really move on at all and is drowning her demons in alcohol. When she is arrested due to an accident while she was drinking, she is forced by the courts to attend therapy. This is when she meets Kingsley. They too begin as friends and become more. I fell for him right along with Jess. Sweet, sexy man.
Yes this is when Jace comes back into the picture as well. She loves both and has to make a decision. But this story is so much more than a love triangle. It is about a person who is so lost and finds her way back to herself. It is a beautiful heartbreaking journey.
I give Therapy 4 hearts!
About the Book
I’m needy.
I’m broken.
Cutting breaks through my numbness, but only opens more
wounds.
Depression, self-harm, bullying....that's my reality.
Sex and guys....that's my escape.
The space between the truth and lies is blurred leaving me
torn, lost and confused. And while the monsters that live in my head try to
beat me-- the two men that I love try to save me.
This is my story of friendship, heartache, and the grueling
journey that is mental-illness.
