My Thoughts
Blyss is one of those books that you just can't put down until you get to the very end dying to see what happens next. It's also one of those books that at the last page you might have more questions than answers.
The story begins with Jules saying goodbye to her fiancee as she is heading home for the summer at her father's request. This is one of those moments like in the movies when they are playing that really slow happy music, but you just know that something bad is getting ready to happen. she hints about her dad's over protectiveness at this time, but goes into more detail with the friend that meets her at the airport. Did I mention that she declares that she's a virgin? Yep. Next thing you know she is waking up in the middle of the night to her father arguing with someone who states that they are going to take her. At this point as she stays outside the door contemplating what to do, I am chanting in my head, "run. run. run." Of course she does so too late and I am wondering where the hell are all those bodyguards that her daddy has to protect her. Seriously. She puts up a damn good fight though, but is still taken.
Jules wakes up groggy and injured to Nick and Travis talking about her. She plays possum to hear more. Travis is going to train her for Nick. This is about to get over the top hot. Well maybe just can't help myself because I am totally sex drugged out, but still steamy. That's right. On top of being kidnapped to become Nick's girl toy, Jules is also being drugged with Blyss that puts her libido into orbit hence some special time with Travis. And oh he is very special...well until he isn't.
So here are just a few of my questions:
Seriously...where were all those bodyguards?
Did her fiancee really walk away with threats?
If her daddy is so brilliant and has so much money, why is she still captive? Couldn't he get together some people to swoop in to rescue her?
Why in the world is Nick so obsessed? Obviously there's a bit of crazy there with the whole boss of a human trafficking thing happening, but creeping on her for over a decade? Really?
I swear there is more to Travis. could he be an undercover agent? Yes I know that is part of me hoping he's not the bad guy in all this and that he may help to rescue her. Let me live in that fantasy for just a little bit longer and don't burst my HEA bubble please.
And what about the guy who picked her up at the airport? Who is he and why was he there the night she was taken?
And the big boss alluded to and shouldn't be crossed? Who is he in all of this? And what does he want from Jules' father?
See so many questions and a cliffhanger to boot. Thing is that I totally dig Jules and that she is ready to fight back. Which brings me to my holy hell yeah desire to tell you to get this book and my whiny how long do I have to wait for the next book in the series begging for JC to give it to me as only she can.
I give Blyss 5 hearts!

About the Book
HAVE YOU EVER
HEARD OF SUCH A GENRE—THE LIGHTER SIDE OF DARK?
Everyone will
have their own definition of "Dark" vs. "Contemporary", and
perhaps there is a mixture of the two. I like to call this the “Grey” genre.
However,
there is one thing for certain; you haven't ever read this type of story
before. Blyss is an original, one of a kind storyline in theme, circumstance,
and character action.
You
will definitely need all three books in order to put together the pieces of
this puzzle, but isn't that what makes reading fun? Book one sets the stage
while you begin to embrace the thrill, the suspense, and the anticipation.
There is a romance story amongst all the turmoil…you will just have to hang on
for the ride.

CONTEMPORARY
ROMANCE (with dark moments)
Blyss is something the world has been trying to create since the beginning of
time, the ultimate aphrodisiac. A drug that's used against women with one
single purpose in mind….
Julianna Oakley has just finished up her junior year at college and flies home
to spend her last free summer with her father on their prestigious Georgia
estate. Julianna isn't your typical spoiled, rich girl, prima donna. She's down
to earth and has an independent streak a mile wide, insisting she make her own
way in this world.
Nick has been setting the stage for a long time, and sparks fly when their
separate worlds collide. She is Nick's ultimate obsession, and he will stop at
nothing to own her.
When Travis, Nick's right hand man, lays his eyes on the prize all hell is
about to break loose.
Travis should know Nick is playing for keeps, and while Julianna is fighting
for her freedom, a lifetime full of secrets and twisted perceptions slowly
unravel as Julianna gets caught in the fray.

Excerpt
I
slowly turn my head to watch Travis through the curtain of hair that has
spilled over my blank hollow eyes. His fall on mine, transforming from
expressionless to soft and almost-sorrowful. My shock is the result of the
bombshell that had exploded around me, revealing the ugly truth of who these
people really are. Human traffickers.
My
God, what are they planning to do with me—my mind, my body, my life? I guess in reality, I am
simply drowning in a sea of questions, each one leading me to more questions. I
feel trapped by the same question circling my brain over and over—Why? I
simply can’t believe this is happening to me.
I
tried before not to give anyone of them the satisfaction of seeing my tears,
but now they come unhindered. I’m too numb to stop them or brush them away from
the slippery trail they make as they run over my cheek. I watch through my
blurry eyes as Travis sets the tray of food down on the end of the bed. He
quietly saunters his way toward me. I’m unable to focus on a coherent thought.
For some reason, Travis doesn’t scare me; he probably should, but after dealing
with Nicks harshness, I don’t think anyone can be as cold and callous as he.
