My Thoughts
Brooklyn is a widow who lost her husband in the war. A few years later she has relocated to another town to start over. Parker is the handyman who takes care of the house she rents. When they first meet he offends her and then plays hot and cold with her. He goes back and forth between not wanting to take advantage of her to thinking he isn't good enough for her. When they finally do let down their walls around their hearts, they fall hard for each other. The only problem is that Parker's past could come back to bite him and change everything for them.
My heart broke for Brooklyn when she received the news that her husband wouldn't be coming home. I just loved her as she was so very brave. Moving to a new town where she didn't know anyone and trying to navigate her life in her own way while everyone told her how she should do that. Parker is good for her in that he pushes her out of her comfort zone and reminds her how wonderful love can be. There were a few times I wanted to shake Parker, but I hurt for him too as he shared a bit about his mom. This is such a sweet and spicy love story and I loved reading about Brooklyn and Parker.
