Book Review - Whipped by Sabrina York

My Thoughts

Dane can't believe his best friend is getting married. He can't imagine being whipped like him. That is until he meets a woman in the elevator that he believes is a hooker hired for his best friend's bachelor party. Big surprise for him when after a passionate night together he meets her again and finds out she is actually his best friend's sister. Now if he could just get past this guy code.

I loved this little burst of spicy and sweet! Tina totally rocked as she went after the guy she's been crushing on for years. I loved that she knocked Dane off kilter and got him to lose control. They were scorching hot together. And that epilogue made my heart burst. Sabrina is one of my favorite writers and she didn't disappoint with this little nugget of sexiness.

I so loved Amelia. Even though she was broken in ways that no one knew, she was so very strong and courageous. She did everything to protect those she loved even when she thought the one she loved most didn't love her back.

I absolutely loved this series. Lora Leigh takes you on a ride from the first page to the last and leaves you wanting for more.

Book Review - Own by Katie Porter

My Thoughts

Katsu's father has been injured in a mission and Evan has been assigned to keep her safe. Years ago they had a brief affair that didn't end well and Katsu's heart was broken. That complicates their arrangement until Evan makes the decision to dominate her. What he doesn't know is that she has already accepted and explored her submissive side. The only problem is that she doesn't completely trust him with her heart after what happened before. She fully expects him to leave her again.

At the same time they are exploring their relationship, there is also the danger that Katsu is in because of who her father is. When her apartment is broken into it leads Evan and her into the battle to make her and everyone else on the team safe.

I so adored Katsu. When we first meet her, she is a tough as nails pool shark and then later we see the glimpse of her softer side in submitting to Evan. Holy hotness! Evan is delicious. He is just realizing his need to dominate, but not just anyone. Only Katsu. And he is one hot Dom.

The action in this story is the backdrop of all that happens within the relationships. From both Katsu and Evan's interactions with her father in the ICU to the moment when they go to the house of a fallen member of the team to help ease the pain of his family.

The is the first book that I've read by these authors and I am totally hooked. I can't wait to read another by them.

Book Review - The Deep End by AM Hartnett

My Thoughts

Grace works for a man many haven't actually seen in years. Jacques has been a recluse ever since the incident. There is much speculation about what happened to him and how he lives his life now. He reveals himself to Grace after she has an encounter at the office letting her know that he has been watching her for some time. This begins a series of moments they share by camera when finally he brings her to his home and reveals himself in person. He doesn't just hide himself physically from others, but he also conceals his heart within walls he erected to protect himself after the incident. Grace doesn't want to fix him, she just wants all of him both the beauty and the broken.

One of the things that I loved about Grace is her strength and courage. She takes a huge chance is going to his home and making this more than a video driven relationship. She opens herself in a fearless way accepting that it could end in hurt. I loved the moments she shared with Jacques when he let down the mask and revealed himself to her. Their chemistry is off the charts hot both through video and in person. Love the bossy man side of Jacques and that moment when roles are reversed...HOT! AM sure can write the hell out of a sexy scene. Not only that, she wrote this story that engaged me from beginning to end with some twists and turns along the way. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

She finally catches him during one of his late night pudding drop offs and they become friends. She tells him about things she has on her someday list and he begins to give some of those to her. Jude has his own heart issues that he is dealing with after losing his girlfriend in an accident. In the moments Lailah and Jude spend together, they begin to fall in love. It isn't an easy road with her being ill and him working through loss and guilt.

I so loved this sweet love story. Lailah and Jude are so good for each other. They learn to live and love together and through that their hearts heal.

“You ever make wishes?” he says, out of nowhere. His voice breaks the thick silence, and it makes my heart jump. I think it would have jumped at hearing him anyhow.
“All the time,” I say. “You?”
“Nah,” he says, and I start to laugh, but I realize he isn’t. “I just made my first one in years.”

“No,” he smiles. “I wished you were over here instead of there.”

More seconds pass, and I let them slip into minutes, my eyes unable to leave his. He didn’t ask. He didn’t come up with some transparent scheme. He was just honest—perfectly, beautifully, terrifyingly honest. We lie there for fifteen more minutes just looking at one another, this new feeling swallowing us both up whole, until Nate finally rolls to his back and then his other side, facing away from me.

Nate’s hand reaches along my arm when I do, and then he runs his fingers up my neck and into my hair, scooping my heavy strands into a pile along my skin. He continues to run his fingers from my hairline to behind my ear, each stroke like a wave crashing over me, making my eyes feel heavy.
“Hey Nate?” I say, my voice barely a whisper.
“Mmmmm,” he says, his nose pressed against the back of my head while he pulls me in closer, continuing to wind my hair through his fingers.
“You should make more wishes,” I say.
“I just made, like, about twenty. But don’t worry. I’m patient.”
Every nerve in my body is tingling from whatever it is we’re doing. This is no longer just flirting. This is levels beyond flirting. And I am about to fall asleep without the help of Ambien for the first time in months.

Haley is on the search for MMA fighters for a TV show she is putting together called the "Next Great Hope" when she comes across a fighter who has been out of the octagon for several years now. Evan left fighting behind to raise his daughter, but with her encouragement the "Enigma" is ready to come back in. With one look from Even in the ring and Haley was hooked. One night of passion spoke to possibilities.

I really enjoyed this story, but have to admit that it felt a bit rushed. I wanted to spend more time with Evan and Haley.

About the Author

As a child, multi-published author Ty Langston loved to read about dragons and knights so much that one day, her grandmother told her to "just write about them."
